Upon first taste it seemed lighter and less distinctive of the bigger Cote du Rhones I have a fondness for (please don't ask which ones, but in the past they seemed heavy and fruity). Now on the second sip I detect a licorice flavor in it's "humble" (as you say) lightness. Opps, timer's beeping.... my short rib stew is ready so I've gotta try them together.
